Perkins+Will’s James Lu has been recognized as a winner in Urban Land Institute’s first-ever 40 under 40 competition, which recognizes the best and brightest young land use professionals from around the globe as determined by a jury of leading ULI members.
James Lu is the Managing Director of Perkins+Will’s Shanghai office, providing strategic, executive, and financial leadership. With a Master of Architecture degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, James has consistently pursued design excellence throughout his career. For the past 11 years, he has been based in China working with international and local clients on high profile projects. His diverse background in both Western and Chinese culture and his bilingual ability make him well-suited to the complex challenges of delivering international-quality works in China. James joined Perkins+Will in May 2013 and is responsible for transforming the Shanghai office from a coordination office, which it had been since 2001, to a full service design office, while further developing Perkins+Will’s brand in the China market through a client-orientated service strategy.
The winners were selected from more than 400 nominations around the world. They were recognized by ULI Global Chairman Lynn Thurber during an address to attendees at the institute’s 2014 Fall Meeting in New York City on October 21, 2014.
